Job Profile of the Insurance Adjuster
The Insurance Adjuster examines the claim form and other records to determine insurance coverage. He interviews through telephone or corresponds with claimant and witnesses about the disputed case. He also consults the police and hospital records and inspects property damage to determine the extent of company's liability, using varying methods of investigation based on the type of insurance.
The Insurance adjuster prepares report of his findings and negotiates settlement with the claimant. The adjustor recommends litigation by legal department when a settlement cannot be negotiated. He would also be present at the litigation hearings.
