More than One DUI and still Insurance Coverage

Yes, you can still get your auto insurance coverage despite having more than one DUI. But the insurance rates will be far higher than what it was prior to the DUI. Drunk driving is a serious offence and more so when it causes an accident.  When you are charged with drunk driving, DUI or DWI, your auto insurance becomes a serious issue. This is because after a DUI, you will be placed under the high risk driver category.  The insurance premium will be increased steeply after the DUI and the insurance company may not renew your auto insurance policy or cancel it altogether. The rate increase following a DUI will depend upon your state, age, gender and the insurance carrier.

Drivers charged with DUI and some others will increase their premiums significantly.  But they need to continue driving which is not possible without auto insurance. If you are convicted of a DUI, you are left with limited options regarding your auto insurance if you are looking to obtain one. Having more than one DUI can make it more difficult to find affordable auto insurance. By doing an extensive research and comparison shopping you can arrive at an informed decision about the best auto insurance for you under these circumstances.

The increased rates of auto insurance will apply as long as seven years depending on the duration for which DUI stays in your driving record.  If there is more than one ticket or accident in your driving history it will cause the insurance rate to be even higher.

When faced with a drunken driving arrest, you should consult drunken driving defense attorney who is experienced in handling such cases.  Unless proven guilty and convicted, you are innocent as per the American law and you need not inform your insurance company about the DUI arrest as there is no need unless there is a conviction.
