Why to have Business Auto Insurance

If you are a business owner, you would like to focus on your business without having to worry about the usage of vehicles and the laws governing them.  You would want to ensure peace of mind by taking out a proper business auto insurance to put all these worries to rest.  Most of the insurance companies offer different types of insurance cover for business automobiles including vans pick up trucks, cars and SUVs.

You would have got a personal auto insurance if you own a car.  This coverage will not be adequate if you use the car for business purpose also.  To get adequately protected against any loss arising out of the use of the car for business activities, you need business auto insurance.   You can consult a licensed broker about how frequently you can use your own car for your business.  Business auto insurance policies are much different from standard auto insurance policies as they cover different types of liability in relation to the business.  Opting for business auto insurance will cost you an additional 10 percent more than what you are currently paying for your personal auto insurance.

If you have a separate car for your company or business, buying a commercial auto insurance policy will be appropriate and is also compulsory.  This coverage will protect your business in case of an accident or loss.  If your employee uses is personal vehicle for business activities and meets with an accident, his auto insurance will take care of his losses. But other parties involved in the accident may sue you.  To protect your business from such losses, you should obtain a hired and non-owned automobile policy, which provides coverage for even cars hired for your business purposes.  Business auto insurance policy encompasses liability which is the most important aspect of insurance coverage as it will pay for expenses related to bodily injury, death and lost income caused by traffic issues, being hit by an uninsured driver or hail storm or vandalism.

Many people who have a home business may not consider getting a business insurance policy that provides extra coverage.   The necessity for a business auto insurance depends on the type of business you do. If it is a consultancy business where you offer your advice through phone or email, there is no need as the vehicle is not used for the business.  But if you have a home based business which involves the use of a vehicle for delivery then you may need the additional coverage that a business auto insurance policy provides.

Different insurance carriers offer different types of policies specifically designed for certain businesses such as the Artisan and Contractor Insurance, Courier and Delivery Insurance, Seasonal Business Insurance and New Venture insurance and more.
