Driving Under The Influence

If statistics are any indication to an alarming situation, most of the figures phenomenally indicate towards driving under the influence. This segment also happens to be the worst amongst all types of driving violations. Driving under the influence also referred to as impaired driving, occurs when someone is found driving intoxicated.

It’s a known fact that every nation has stringent rules to prevent driving under the influence of alcohol or some drugs, and if found, may further lead to exorbitant amount of fines and behind the bars punishment. It is equally strange to note the alarming figures of young deaths caused due to under an influence driving.

Laws prohibit any type of driving under the influence and have sentencing methodology against offenders. Sentence in terms of fine is often a big amount yet is charged as first time offence. Further, second time sentence may result in restriction or suspension of driving license of the offender and some period behind the bars. Hereafter, the severity of sentencing against driving under the influence becomes scarier and may result in up to 3 years of jail and complete prohibition from driving. The charges imposed for driving under the influence are severe for death or bodily harm and can be termed as a case of criminal negligence, hazardous driving and even homicide.

Statistics indicate male offenders to be higher under this category of crime. A noticeable fact in this case is that young offenders in particular that they symbolize drinking as their masculinity and when looking into the locations where they drink, young offenders mostly were found having drunk at locations away from their homes. This might be one cause behind high number of young deaths as a result of driving under the influence.

In spite of knowing the severity of sentencing for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, it continues to largely contribute to the criminal records. It is only through awareness campaigns that can resist drivers from operating their vehicles under some influence.
