Know The Real Fact About Auto Insurance Binder

Insurance policy that provides short term or immediate coverage, in oral or written form, is called as auto insurance binder. It is somewhat like temporary auto insurance coverage which is provided until the original insurance policy is obtained or renewed.

If you are a vehicle owner and have renewed your auto insurance once or several numbers of times, you may know how insurance companies give temporary insurance during the time the renewal is processed. Well, auto insurance binder also gives the same protection that your actual policy gives or shall give in the future. Once you have applied for auto insurance, you may get auto insurance binder after you completing all formalities set by the insurance company. You might be aware that certain necessary details needs to be shared with the company before a proper auto insurance is issued.

While your details and documents are verified by the auto insurance adjuster, you will be provided with temporary insurance, which is called as auto insurance binder. If you have just purchased a vehicle and have met with an accident on the same day of purchase, you can claim for insurance using your auto insurance binder. Auto insurance is not issued on the same day of applying. The verification of details and documents will take some time as hundreds of applicants register each day. Until the original or permanent auto insurance is issued, the applicant will be given auto insurance binder. It is a temporary insurance that provides proof of the coverage of the insured vehicle until permanent policy is received.

However, the regulations and laws of auto insurance policy may vary from one state to another. Therefore, it is essential for you to read the terms and conditions of the insurance policy before buying. You must talk to the insurance agent and ask details about the insurance policy and coverage. If you have understood the amount of coverage your auto insurance binder gives, then you can easily make insurance settlement claims if any mishap has occurred while driving your vehicle with temporary auto insurance. At times of mishaps or accidents, with your vehicle that has auto insurance binder, the total amount of protection you can get will be specified with the issued insurance document.

This type of temporary insurance coverage can be settled in a written or oral form. However, some companies do not provide immediate binder to the applicants and may be effective only after the next 24 hours. Before obtaining auto insurance binder, you must understand its coverage value and effective time period.
