Law Regarding Driving Under the Influence

It is very important understanding the law regarding driving under the influence because having once offended for this crime may substantially effect one’s liberty to handle or operate a vehicle. Generally speaking, the convicted may have to face multiple pressures on economical, social and mental fronts. Besides getting fined heavily and penalized by the judiciary, the next courses of actions are restriction or prohibition of driving license, car insurance getting rejected or exorbitant rise in its premium amount, mandatory visit to rehabilitation center etc. Moreover, the convicted will also need to take corrective steps to regain a loyal driving record.

Though the some laws may vary, the first thing to note while understanding the law regarding driving the influence is that penalties have become harsher today, as compared to what they have been before and also, the number of laws have now increased. Law suggests age of the offender as a crucial factor in terms of location specific legal age of drinking. Further, the law tightens its grip when the offence is found to be of repetitive nature. It is imperative to understand that law gets harsher with increasing number of occurrences third time onwards and imposes severe punishments with additional charges.
 
Furthermore, the penalty size for even the first time offenders may seem unsympathetic but this where the law regarding driving under the influence attempts to discourage DUI in order to decrease its repetitive incidences and casualties.
 
When caught driving under the influence, the accused may first be required to go through breathalyzer test as a law, by traffic policeman on duty. The accused if fails the breathalyzer test may be taken for investigation to the police station and can be fined substantially. However, depending upon the casualties caused as a result of this act, law suggests legal proceedings after police verifications and evidence collection.

So before you even think of getting intoxicated and boarding the driving seat, it is advisable understanding the law regarding driving under the influence.
