Understanding Auto Insurance First Party Benefits

We all know that auto insurance gives protection to vehicles and owners/drivers at the time of accident and road fatalities. The amount of protection or compensation given by the insurance company is given according to the insurance coverage that has been purchased.

Well, there are various types of insurance coverage that is meant for giving protection to the vehicles as per their values. Expensive and luxury vehicles need high amount of protection and therefore it is important to buy high coverage auto insurance for them. Likewise, economic or cheap vehicles require low coverage auto insurance and hence low coverage auto insurance is required for such vehicle. What is auto insurance first party benefit coverage?

First party insurance coverage covers certain types of loss that has occurred to a vehicle in a collision or accident. In some states of the US, it is compulsory for vehicle owners to hold first party auto insurance policy for their vehicles. While purchasing first party benefit auto insurance, buying medical insurance is mandatory. First Party Benefit (FPB) medical coverage offers coverage to policy holder. Policy holder may be a driver or the vehicle owner. With first party auto insurance, the relatives and families of the policy holders who are listed on the auto insurance policy is also covered.

In the US, the lowest limit available on First Party Benefit Auto Insurance is $5000. Well, most of the drivers cannot afford to hold First Party auto Insurance policy because of the high rate of premium. But, there are lots of benefits that can be enjoyed with FPB (First Party Benefit Auto Insurance). After an accident, insurance companies conduct check on the matter and investigate the case before providing compensation to the policy holder. If you are a policy holder with first party auto insurance, you can enjoy lots of benefits while making auto insurance settlement claims.

Some of the services include:
  • Essential Rehab services (after an accident to the injured person).
  • Medical and surgical treatment related to the accident case.
  • Ambulance and nursing services.
  • Dental surgery or optometric treatment.
  • Required and appropriate medications, medical supplies and prosthetic devices.

First Party Auto Insurance Policy holders can enjoy all these benefits once they make insurance claims with their respective insurance company. Whereas, other policy holders have to wait for the investigation team for completing the procedure and provide compensation to the person who has made claims. Sometimes, full coverage may not be provided by the insurance company but first party benefits give no chance for such problems.
