Car registration is a legal necessity that is applicable to the citizen of almost all countries. It is the legal proof describing that you have paid the taxes and fees for your car before it comes on to the road. Car registration is necessary for any kind of motor vehicles that are driven on the public property. This registration process also involves your insurance and your title for which you have to pay required fees on annual basis. In most of the states, if you buy motor vehicle from authorized dealer, they will charge you a fee to apply to the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicle) for your registration. Often, dealer issues a temporary registration and vehicle plates if required. The dealer normally submits your vehicle registration and title certification application for you to the DMV. But if your plan to register your vehicle yourself, you will require below given forms and documents in state of New York:
· Proof of vehicle Ownership
· Proof of Sales tax payment, exemption or purchase price
· Proof of automobile liability insurance
· Vehicle Registration / Title Application Form (MV-82)
· Proof of Identity and Date of Birth of the registrant
· Payment of Sales tax and Fees
On your submission of the registration and title application and clearance of the same, you will receive following documents or items from DMV in the state of New York:
· DMV issues Vehicle plates, Registration sticker to put on the vehicle and Registration document to keep in the vehicle. You can make photocopies of the registration document.
· DMV gives inspection sticker if you did not get your vehicle from a NYS automobile dealer. You have to get your vehicle inspected in 10 days from the registration date in NYS.
